GPT 4 Update: Default GPT-4o Model to Receive Major Upgrade on October 2nd, 2024

Starting on that date, the default version of GPT-4o will be updated to the latest model: gpt-4o-2024-08-06. This exciting new release is designed to offer significant improvements in cost efficiency and functionality:

50% cheaper input tokens: Lower costs for processing the data you send.
33% cheaper output tokens: Reduced fees for the AI-generated responses.
Supports Structured Outputs: Enhanced capabilities for more complex and organized outputs from the model.
If you’re as eager as we are to try out these new features, you don’t have to wait until October! Simply specify gpt-4o-2024-08-06 as the model parameter in your API requests to start using it right away.

What Does This Mean for You?

If you're currently using gpt-4o as your model parameter, your requests will automatically update to this new version on October 2nd. No need to do anything—the upgrade will be seamless. However, if you prefer to stick with the older version of the model, you can continue using gpt-4o-2024-05-13 by explicitly specifying it as your model parameter in the API.
